Strategies of Designing Learning Materials Proposed By Ann Burn’s and Helen De Silva are by using teaching learning cycle. It consists of four segments that are Building knowledge of field (BKOF), Modeling of text (MOT), Joint construction of text (JCOT), and Independent construction of text (ICOT). MOT consist of cultural context, social function, schematic structure, linguistic features, using spoken language to focus on written text.  JCOT consist of schematic structure, linguistic features, and knowledge of field. ICOT consist of schematic structure, linguistic features, and knowledge of field. BKOF consist of cultural context, shared experience control of relevant vocabulary and grammatical patterns. That’s all to increase approximation to control of written and spoken text.

Permendiknas No. 41 2007 states about exploration, elaboration, and confirmation. It is in same line with the teaching- learning cycle by Burn and Joyce.   What happens in class room when the teacher using teaching learning cycle and based on exploration, elaboration and confirmation? The classroom interaction are focused on class <–>teacher in MOT, Teacher <–> student and teacher <–>class in JCOT, teacher <–> student, student <–> student in ICOT, class <–> teacher and student<–> student in BKOF. Both permendiknas and teaching learning cycle are in one purpose. So we can state that a good text book should consist of MOT, JCOT, ICOT, BKOF and exploration, elaboration and confirmation.
